A family of blagguards and misfits

Found the photo Darryl, though I am not sure who all the people are. Not really sure where we were at all.
Finally sorted out Aunty Claire's speech from the BBQ in 2009'. The audio needs a bit of work, but I don't have the program to fix it.

Something about the Leung's

 Hi Devo's

Well Viv has leaped in and given you all the Drum about her family. I suppose I can do the same. Mind you at the inaugural reunion Darryl greeted me with "Hi ! Cathy the last time I saw was in 1970. We were in jail together." I quickly had to tell my husband (David) that it was at Lunar Park and it was meant as a joke.  I must find that photo I have it somewhere.

Darryl Devlin - mouth shut.
Fair go, Darryl I haven't exactly told him everything. I was introducing Dave to the family, some of you have met him before, he is a quiet man who loves fishing and boating and rugby. Most of you would have also had the opportunity to meet Damien, Natasha and the children Courtney and Zac. I gave Damien up for adoption in 1972 and we made contact in 2000. Natasha can see where the humour and the madness comes from. Damien is a policeman and knows Will and Chomper. Dave and I married up in Cairns in 1981. We have three children Samara (27) Kimmy (Kimberley-Claire) (24) and Jaydon (22).
Dave and I in London (Sept 2010)

Dave Viv and I have recently returned from a trip to the UK and Europe. While we are over there we met up with Alistair Fischer - Nin's nephew and Dad, Andy and Claire's cousin. He had a great night, Alistair cooked us a lovely pork roast and we talked and laughed into the small hours. We left him and his son Laurence to clean up as we had to be on the bus at 4am to start our tour.

Laurence, Cath, Alistair & Viv
Also caught up with  (B)Will and Claire in Brisbane in October, lovely night out with the cousin from Mossman.

Cheers
Cath

Why do we only meet up at funerals?

Why do we only meet up at funerals was a very interesting question put to me by Aunty (Tante) Claire. She mentioned at Mum's funeral of the plan for a reunion to be had for all the Devlin Clan. The idea was of course Tony and Anne's with input by Bill (orWill) with the result that Phil and his family ended up planning a really great inaugural event. We are fortunate to have two of the naughtiest ladies as our matriarchs. My children are in awe of the two Aunties who are so outspoken and wickedly funny. It is the wicked humour that is the definable Devlin trait. Well perhaps it is from the Irish side who knows. Its a strange mixture. We want to take over Poland = but only as a joke.

In the beginning....

Here we go, keeping up with Technology and not having a clue what to do...My main objective is to ensure we all have a place to go to that we can catch up with each other every now and then. Thinking that this is so much more sophisticated to use than the very common Facebook.
Cathy and I have put our hands up to host the next Devlin Reunion in 2011. I was disappointed to miss out the inaugral reunion Phil organised after the two visionaries, Ann and Tony discussed a reunion. Apparently, Sas and I do have a bit of a hard act to follow.
Time is flying by fast - It has hit me hard that now Cathy, Bernie and myself are now orphans - Mum and Dad no longer with us. How scary it has become, I see Bernie looking like Dad, Cathy, at times, reminding me of Mum (owls also becoming a little of an obsession like Mum - tho' Sas would not agree...!)
My three boys are now taller than me. Ben is now 19 and looking for work - finding it really difficult in finding a job - maybe he should apply for jobs, it may help.... He's a bright boy - if he could work out what type of job he wants to do, I'm sure he'll go in leaps and bounds.
Sam is 16. He was determined to leave school but couldn't until he got a job. So he did, he's loving his job as a telemarketer - last month winning the National Best Seller. So be careful, he may be calling on you one day!!! Don't worry, he has a laugh when abused - it's like water off a duck's back - I personally would be crushed - but it really doesn't bother him at all!!! Taylor will be turning 14 in August. Can't believe how tall he is now! He's considering becoming a Vet.
And me? Hmmm, seem to be constantly busy, sometimes there are definately not enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do. No doubt many of you understand that!!!
Will get Sas to send over some family photos for your enjoyment.
Cheers to everyone - hope to get things up and running soon!
Love to you all
