Where did we come from?

I have been trying to track our family (Devlin) back to where they came from. According to stories Nin told me Poppa's grand father was born at sea on the journey from either England, Scotland or Ireland. My dad told me that Poppa's family were Orange (Protestant) not Catholic. Finding the truth is not all that easy.
I have a copy of a newspaper article which gives a hint or two. I am not sure where James' father was buried.
If anyone has any stories can you let me know.
